Criteria for Colleges
The FA Charter Standard Colleges programme supports FE colleges and Sixth Form colleges in England who are committed to using football as a medium to deliver sport and raise academic achievement.
Charter Standard - Who is eligible to apply?
Further Education Colleges, Sixth Form Colleges and HE (non university status) institutions may apply.
Charter Standard - The Criteria
- Affiliation - County FA or ESFA
- Players male - 20 with an additional 15 each season
- Players female - 16 with an additional 10 each season
- Head Coach - Minimum Level 3
- Assistant Coaches - Minimum Level 2
- All Coaches - CRB and FACA
- Treatment of injury • Additional person
Facilities
- Minimum size grass playing surface 65m x 92m
- Outdoor coaching area – grass or synthetic pitch
- Separate changing rooms / shower
- A medical room or treatment of injuries room
Operational requirements
- 6 hours football programme – coaching,analysis, fitness
- Run for a minimum 26 weeks
- Goalkeepers – 3 hours specialist goalkeeping per month
Coach Education
- All players must be offered both coach education and officiating courses inc Level 1
Fixtures
- All players must register with a team other than the college team
- All students must play in a minimum of 8 fixtures
College to Club Links
- Colleges must have a link to a Charter Standard Club or willing to achieve within six months
College to School Links
- Colleges must have a link to a Charter Standard School or willing to achieve within six months
Marketing and Communication
- Use of logo
- Charter Standard Football Development College
- Not permitted to use terms Academy or Centre of Excellence
Conduct
- Must promote the colleges code of conduct
- Anti-Discrimination policy
