This weekend sees the start of the Umbro International Cup, a footballing festival running over the course of three weeks in Manchester. It truly is this summer’s second football spectacular!

A record number of teams from across the UK and around the world will take part in the 14th Umbro International Cup, the UK’s largest amateur football tournament, which has been supported since its conception by Cheadle-based Umbro, the world’s leading football brand and official kit supplier to the England team.

This year, 450 teams will descend on the city from across the UK and from 25 countries around the world, including teams from as far away as USA, Cameroon and South Africa, to show off their skills and compete for the title.

An estimated 10,000 players and spectators will visit the tournament this year, with plenty on offer for those who aren’t playing. Umbro will be showcasing its latest ‘Evolution X’ series or performance clothing and boots and will be running an interactive skills zone, which will have a ‘Powersave’ inflatable goalkeeping simulator and a dribbling trials course for all to test their skills on.

The Umbro International Cup has six competition categories:

Boys Youth Tournament (Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29th July) Girls Youth Tournament (Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29th July) Mini Soccer Tournament (Saturday 29th July) Women’s Open Age weekend Tournament (Saturday 22nd July and Sunday 23rd July) Men’s Open Age Weekend Tournament (Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August) Veterans Weekend Tournament (Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August)
