Brazilian-born Mozart Balan has led a Stretford 5-a-side team, ‘FC Dallas’, to Wembley for the Final of The FA UMBRO Fives, the country’s biggest 5-a-side tournament.

Over 1,600 teams entered this year's inaugural competition, with just 48 teams having the chance to take to the hallowed turf on Sunday 15 July.
Mozart, now living in Manchester, applied his professional futsal skills to the world of 5-a-side to help the Manchester United fans through to the Wembley Final. The Brazilian striker learned his trade in his native country, and boasts playing against the likes of Real Madrid wonder kid Robinho as his career highlight.
Team captain Rashid Bahzuri said “All the lads were fantastic in the regional final; we really pulled together as a team and are absolutely thrilled about making it to Wembley.”
Rashid added “We’ve missed out on big finals before, so to make it through to this one means the world to the team. I’ll be the first to admit we took it a little easy in the final stages of the regional heat, but at Wembley we’ll be going flat-out to win.”
The lads from Manchester 5-a-side team ‘The Union’ have followed in the footsteps of their Man United idols by also making it to Wembley for the Final of The FA UMBRO Fives.
After watching their heroes lose in The FA Cup Final, ‘The Union’ return to Wembley hoping to go one better than the Red Devils and collect their FA UMBRO Fives winners medals from the Royal Box.
The trip to Wembley will bring back fond memories for Glasgow-born team captain and goalkeeper Billy Doleman, who at 54 is one of the oldest players in the tournament. Billy, a publican now living in Ardwick, has made several trips to Wembley over the past 30 years to see his beloved Scotland take on England, but this will be his first visit to the new stadium.
Glasgow Rangers fan Billy said: “The team is named after my pub, and that’s where we’ve been all weekend celebrating our place at Wembley!”
Billy added “To win at the regional final is amazing for us. When we entered the tournament at the local heats, we didn’t think we’d ever make it this far. Some of the lads in the team are only 18 – I’ll be relying on their legs and my experience to carry us through in July.”
England Captain and official ambassador for the inaugural FA UMBRO Fives, John Terry, commented: “What an achievement for both teams. Lifting The FA Cup at Wembley was one of the greatest moments of my career and I wish the boys all the best at Wembley!”
The FA UMBRO Fives is the country’s biggest five-a-side tournament and the only tournament that provides the chance to play at the new Wembley Stadium.
Over 5,000 men’s and women’s teams will compete in regional heats across the country. For more information on how to register to next year, go to www.thefa.com/UMBROFives. Are you up for the challenge?
