With the World Cup now a fading memory and competitive football still some time away, we want to know how you been busying yourself as the clock ticks towards the 2006/7 season.

If you play football, have you started pre-season training yet? Are you finding it tough after the summer break? What are you most looking forward to about the new season? What are your aims for the season?

Perhaps you spend your Saturdays cheering on your team. Who do you support? Are you pleased with the new signings? Where will your team finish?

If you have an interesting story then we want to hear from you!

Here is our first, which is from Stuart Winchester who plays for Holmbury St Mary in the Guildford & Woking Alliance:

"The new season dawns with much enthusiasm for me having had a remarkably entertaining and long pre-season preparation since May.

"Having had my fitness shattered by pleurisy at the sprightly age of 28, much hard work was required and I joined with some lads for some midweek football to get the legs back in order.

"However, I didn’t quite expect the pre-season to include leading my work team to the final of a corporate five-a-side competition less than 24 hours after a 5am drinking session at our summer ball, breaking my four year goal drought with an exquisite left foot chip or trading tackles with a number of celebs from TV and pop music.

"All that awaits is to be voted skipper of my local team’s reserve side at our forthcoming AGM. Game on!"
