Pitch guidelines 06/07
Friday, 14 July 2006.
The various FA Competition Committees have now made their decisions for the use of artificial grass pitches within FA Competitions for season 2006/07. These decisions were as follows:
The FA Challenge Cup Committee
Reject the use of such pitches in all rounds of the competition for next season with another review in 12 months, with the benefit of further medical figures.
The FA Trophy Committee
To allow the use of such pitches in all rounds of the competition for next season, subject to the pitches conforming with either of the FIFA standards. Further conditions to be applied for season 2007/08, as the rule will only affect one Club for next season and their pitch is being retested this month to check for conformity to current standards.
The FA Vase Committee
To reject use for next season but to approve in principle for season 2007/08, subject to firm conditions of use to be agreed at a subsequent committee meeting in the Autumn.
The FA Sunday Cup Committee
As The FA Vase.
The FA Women's Premier League
Continued use in line with season 2005/06.
A further report later this year will outline the conditions to be agreed by the Vase and Sunday Cup Committees.
The FA will continue to work with FIFA and UEFA to progress the conditions implied to their competitions, in view of three professional Clubs playing in UEFA competitions with such pitches next season - these are Berne FC, Salzburg Red Bull FC and Torpedo Moscow FC.
Look out for feedback from these matches during the season.
