Having been given his second opportunity to manage in the Premier League, Chris Hutchings is confident that he is better equipped to be successful.

Hutchings took the helm at Bradford City seven years ago following the departure of PaulJewell, and now armed with his Pro Licence he hopes to follow Jewell for a second time with distinction.

Speaking exclusively to TheFA.com, Hutchings revealed: "I'm delighted to get the job ovbiously, I'm very excited about it but we don't want another season like last year that's for sure.

"We want the previous year where we finished in the top half and got to a Cup final. We're looking to get some better players in and obviously if we can do that we'll have a better chance than last season.

"It's very, very exciting and it's a great opportunity. We have some great lads at the club, I really enjoy working with them, they know me and I know them.

"Now it's a case of adding some big name players to go with the ones we already haveat the club. Hopefully we'll have a better squad and it will be a better season."

Taking the Pro Licence will undoubtedly stand him in good stead to test himself against the top managers in the Premier League, and Hutchings has enjoyed every minute of the course.

"It has been very educational, I've learn't a great deal and I have enjoyed it immensely," Hutchings explained.

"Talking to the rest of the boys there have been different topics to learn about, a variety of speakers have come in.

"All the guys have had a great time with one another which is very important. We've got regional coaches, youth coaches, reserve coaches, first team coaches and managers, so it's been a nice gathering of people to work of eachother's experiences."

On the subject of evolution in coaching practices Hutchings is convinced that a lot has changed over recent years.

"Very much so. You never would have thought ten or 15 years ago that we would be doing things like ice baths after games.

"Diet has come into it more and more and people are more professional about their approach. Players want to play longer because the rewards in the game are huge, so if they can get an extra year or two by looking after themselves in the right way, they'll do that.

"They certainly come back to pre-season a lot fitter than players used to many years ago. There's a lot to be learned from these courses and there's no doubt they are a massive help. You can never stop learning in this game, when you think you know it all you'll fall flat on your face.

"It's a vital part of educating yourself and understanding the game, progressing and courses like this are a big benefit to us."
