The FA Tesco Skills website now features some of the biggest names in football showing 5-11 year olds how they can improve their football skills.

The website acts as the main hub of the The FA Tesco Skills Programme, a three-year programme co-ordinated by The FA and funded by Tesco and the National Sports Foundation, which aims to give one million children in England top-quality skills coaching by summer 2010.

It is packed with easy-to-follow video tips and challenges hosted by Chelsea and England’s Frank Lampard, Arsenal and England Women’s Kelly Smith and a team of specialist FA Skills coaches who are qualified to coach junior players.

Boys and girls of all abilities can sign up to The FA Tesco Skills Programme on the site where they can design their own character and personalised changing room, play games and most importantly watch loads of fun football videos – all designed to help improve their football skills.

The new website isn’t just for kids. It is designed to give parents and teachers the tools to play their part in helping the future of football in England.

Teachers have access to a bespoke section of the site that gives ideas, tips and advice for teaching football to 5-11 year olds along with video tutorials to help get the best out of school football sessions.

And the site features everything a parent needs to know to ensure they are helping their kids to develop including tips from professional coaches, nutritional advice and fun training videos.

As part of The FA Tesco Skills Programme, a team of 66 full time Skills Coaches have been trained in coaching methods specifically designed for the 5-11 age group. These Skills Coaches are carrying out free coaching sessions throughout England focusing on raising technical standards amongst the 5-11 age group, when ball skills are ingrained.

The website allows you to find your local Skills Centre and discover more about the Skills Coaches who are working in your area.

FA Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking says youngsters should be given the tools to improve.

"We’ve got to give every 5-11 year old in England the opportunity to play and enjoy the game," he said. "And if they want to get better, we need to show them how."
