Refs in-service at Kendal

Referee Development Group from Westmorland FA attended Kendal Town fixture.

On Tuesday 10 March 2009 Westmorland FA Referees Development Group went to watch Kendal Town FC v Leigh Genesis in the Northern Premier League as part of their in-service training.

FA Licensed instructor for Blackpool Referees Society, Barry Oldham, was invited to join the group to help deliver the training with Referees Development Officer, Alan Young.

The students were split into two groups. The younger referees joined Alan whilst the older and more experienced referees spent time with Barry.

The younger referees stayed together as group and talked about the Assistant Referees positioning and flagging techniques and looked at the referees whistle tone and signals.

The more experienced referee split into pairs and Barry Oldham positioned them in different areas of the ground. They were looking at the referee’s performance in more depth and trying to identify his strengths and development areas. At the end of match the instructors de-briefed the group and talked about the different aspects of the Referee’s performance.

Westmorland FA would like to thank Barry Oldham for his service and also Kendal Town FC for their hospitality on an excellent evening.
