The speed and intensity of modern day football has led to a complete shift in a player's diet and training methods.
As a consequence, referees have had to alter their match preparation in order to improve and maintain their own fitness levels, to ensure they are always up with play.
The FA's Refereeing department has created a Fitness Guide for Referees to help them achieve the level of fitness required to take charge of a match, be it in the Premier League or the grassroots game.
