Laura Bassett joined in with girls only coaching session.
England Women's international Laura Bassett recently attended a Football 4 GALS session at Lees Brook Community Sports College, in partnership between Derbyshire County FA, Derby City Council, Lees Brook Community Sports College and Operation Relentless.
Football 4 GALS ran over two days with 45 girls attending and the sessions were led by all-female coaches from the Derby County Centre of Excellence for Girls and local FA Charter Standard club Pride Park Juniors.
The girls came from across the county to attend the coaching, which is a regular event in the Derbyshire County FA calendar.
Whilst there, they all took part in coaching sessions, played in tournaments and had a boxercise session with boxercise instructor Marvin Burton. The girls then had a question and answer session with Laura Bassett, who talked about how she got into football and what it is like being part of the England squad who had just returned from South Korea from the Peace Cup. Laura also signed certificates and had photos taken with the girls.
Angie Harper, Derbyshire County FA’s Women’s and Girls’ Football Development Officer, said “The girls enjoyed the sessions and it was great for the girls to meet an England international and to be able to ask her any questions.”
