The new football season is approaching, clubs are into their pre-season training schedules, so there's absolutely nothing stopping you finding a team nearby, getting your boots on and joining in the fun.
To help pull you up out of your seat and encourage you to get involved in eleven-a-side football, The FA has launched a
brand new film to inspire players to join a club and be a part of the nation's favourite game.
The video can be seen here on TheFA.com, or on our new
YouTube Channel that's aimed at helping you to play the game. There is also a series of self-help films featuring The FA’s expert coaches and medical staff to aid players to be fitter, faster and healthier.
And to keep the excitement going throughout the season, The FA will also launch a grassroots ‘Goal of the Month’ competition via YouTube. Players and teams will be able to upload clips of goals which will be shortlisted via an expert panel. Subscribers will then have chance to vote for the winner who will receive a prizes for their team.
There are over 30,000 men’s eleven-a-side football teams playing in affiliated FA competitions in England. But the number of teams has declined in recent seasons – due in part to a trend towards more lifestyle-friendly five-a-side football. The FA hopes to inspire existing and lapsed players to re-sign for season 2009-10 and support them to continue playing.
