Disability focus at Grassroots exhibition

The FA will be present at 'Grass Roots Live' show between 12-14 June.

Grassroots football will take centre stage in Birmingham next weekend as the fifth ‘Grass Roots Live’ exhibition (formerly the ‘Grass Roots Football Show’) will be held in the NEC between 12 and 14 June.

Every aspect of the grassroots game will be featured over the course of the three days, including disability football.

Jeff Davis, The FA’s National Development Manager for Disability Football, will host a workshop at the exhibition which will concern itself with the player pathway and the disability Centre of Excellence programme. This workshop will take place at 12.15pm on Sunday 14 June. The FA will also erect a stand which will provide information for clubs that are interested in providing football opportunities for people with a disability.

A number of other presentations and demonstrations will occur on the Sunday, encompassing all areas of disability football, from blind football to Powerchair football, so if you have an interest in this area of the game, or simply want to find out more, come along to the NEC on 14 June.

Bob Rosen, Managing Director of Grass Roots Football Live, said he was delighted that the exhibition will be used to promote the vast array of opportunities available for players with a disability.

"Football has long been enjoyed by groups suffering from a variety of disabilities," he said, "and is often one the activities most looked forward to.

"Hundreds of multi-team clubs throughout the country run specific disability projects and we are really pleased to be able to use the show to highlight so many different initiatives."
