Berkshire girls get their gloves on

Local goalkeeping course for girls proves popular.

On Monday, the new Berkshire County Girls' League and Berks & Bucks FA ran a Girls Only Goalkeeper Course, in partnership with the local Girls' Centre of Excellence.

The Berks & Bucks FA and local girls' teams have been working together for the last 12 months and Berkshire County Girls' League got started this season with 60 teams and over 700 players.

The clubs said they really wanted support for their goalkeepers so Berks & Bucks FA set up a one day course for 'keepers to come and develop their skills.

Fifty girls attended the course at Berkshire County Sports Ground and thoroughly enjoyed the day, as the U12 Binfield Wildcats Manager Wendy Rushin said: "My players enjoyed the goalkeeping day, they really learnt a lot and are looking forward to the next one! A great success thank you for organising."

Berks & Bucks FA and The Berkshire County Girls League are so thrilled with the success they now plan to run another girls only goalkeeper course in February 2012
