A new position has arisen in Middlesex.
The Middlesex FA sees regards the recruitment, training and development of referees as a vital part of its strategy to develop the game in the County, to increase participation and enhance the enjoyment of those taking part.
The importance of having a qualified registered match official for every match was highlighted in the nationwide consultation that took place two years ago, where every sector of the game identified refereeing and the improvement of behaviour as their most important concern.
Whilst The Association has recorded a number of successes in this area, it has been decided to raise the profile and importance of this area of our work by recruiting a Referees Development Manager to write, develop and manage a strategy to meet The Association’s objectives.
The position will replace that of the current Referees Development Officer post as it has been recognised that a different skill set is required to manage the expanded Referee Development Team, to manage the considerable budget that has been allocated and the need to work with partners to seek additional funding to derive maximum benefit and potential from the investment in money and resources that The Association has allocated.
Invitations are invited from candidates who have management experience in an established and recognised role in football, especially in refereeing development at a management level. The salary is fully met from external funding and will be up to £29,000 inclusive. Any offer of employment will initially be until 2012 but will be on a contract basis and subject to the continuation of this external funding after this date.
A full job description and person specification is available from George Wells at
george.wells@middlesexfa.com Applicants should use the application form and submit it in confidence to the Chief Executive, Peter Clayton by Friday 26 March 2010. The application should be accompanied by a full CV and a paper to demonstrate how the candidate meets the person specification.
Interviews will be held in early April and will include the candidates making a presentation on a subject to be confirmed.
