Disability Football Development Officer.
£22,000 - £26,000p/a two year fixed term contract (37 hrs per week)
In partnership with The West Riding County Football Association, Bradford City, Huddersfield Town and Leeds United Football in the Community schemes, the Football League Trust and sponsored by Littlewoods Pools, we are seeking to recruit a full time Disability Football Development Officer dedicated to providing football opportunities for people with disabilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the Football League Trust ‘To Make Every Player Count’ programme and The FA National Game Strategy in partnership with key stakeholders, which will include:-
• Following the guidelines of The FA Disability Strategy.
• Coordinate the delivery of Disability Football within West Yorkshire in partnership with the Disability Working Group and its partners.
• Strengthen the Disability Player Pathway with structured opportunities throughout the County from grassroots to excellence for adults and children.
• Establish Curricular and Extra Curricular coaching activities for Special Schools in West Yorkshire.
• Provide practical taster sessions for players with a disability.
• Increase the number of staff and volunteers with coach education activities i.e. Coaching Disabled Footballers courses.
• Establish a school competition network for the County.
• Support independent groups to develop football clubs.
• Establish a recreational league competition.
• Increase the number of Charter Standard clubs for Disability Football.
• Support the existing Ability Counts clubs and the Yorkshire Ability Counts League.
• Establish a School to Club Link programme.
• Increase structured football for players with disabilities, including learning disability, partially sighted, blind, deaf, amputee and cerebral palsy.
• Work with Ability Counts partners.
To apply, you need to be of graduate calibre and have experience of sports development. An understanding of The FA’s National Game Strategy, disability football structures and pathways, barriers faced by people with disabilities and knowledge of sports equity is required. You need to be passionate about and committed to the development of disability football at a local level. You must be able to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised and on their own initiative. Experience of managing projects/events to demonstrate sound organisation and planning skills is required. Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Candidates must hold a full driving licence and be able to work some evenings and weekends.
