Twelve female coaches completed Level One Coaching Course on Saturday.
There are now 12 newly-qualified female football coaches in the Surrey area thanks to a female-only Level One Certificate in Coaching Football course that concluded on Saturday.
The course participants included primary school and secondary school teachers, parents, football supporters and even a player from the Fulham Ladies first team squad.
To complete their Level One coaching course the candidates learnt about various aspects of coaching including the Laws of the Game, club administration, emergency aid and long-term player development. They also learnt how to deliver safe and effective coaching sessions to train and benefit their players.
The final part of the course was an independently assessed delivery of a coaching session.
The new coaches joined the course for various different reasons; some were already coaching, some had children who played and wanted to get more involved and others played for a team themselves.
All of the candidates agreed that the course was time well spent and they will now go on to use the skills they learnt in various fields of their work such as on the pitch and in their schools.
Surrey FA decided to offer a female-only coaching course to give women in the County the chance to learn about football coaching in an all female environment. Craig Hicks, the Coach Education Officer at Surrey FA said: “We always try to set up courses to meet the needs of those who want to learn. We’re delighted to have a group of newly qualified female coaches and I’m pleased they found the course so valuable.”
