A festival of football

Lancashire FA will hold its annual football festival in May.

Lancashire FA will be holding their annual FA Charter Standard Clubs Festival at the County Ground in Leyland on the weekend of 8-9 May 2010.

Eighty teams are entering the festival, with over 800 children in attendance over the course of the two days. The festival, now in it’s ninth year is always a popular and successful event with every child going away with a memento of the day.

The festival is organised to promote the good work of Lancashire clubs who have achieved FA Charter Standard status with the ethos of developing players through raising standards and good practise.

The festival will have age groups at U8, U9, U10 and U10 girls with fixtures being played on a ‘friendly’ basis whereby no results will be collated. This has proved to be a great success in the past with the ethos of fun and enjoyment for the players.

The FA Skills Coach team will also be on hand to meet players and parents and inform them of the programme in Lancashire.

Roger De Nobrega, Lancashire FA’s Senior Football Development Officer, said: “We are extremely looking forward to our ninth annual mini-soccer festival. We have 80 teams entered over the course of the two days and as in previous years we anticipate that the football will be played in good spirit and be a credit to our Charter Standard Clubs in Lancashire.”

The Lancashire FA is also using the Festival to promote England Football Day on 12 June.

With the World Cup only weeks away in South Africa the festival will be a great opportunity for everyone to get involved in the various events around Lancashire.
