Charter Standard winners

Six schools, six clubs and two colleges have been recognised as The FA Charter Standard Award 2008 national category winners. The FA and McDonald’s handed out the highest honours in grassroots football at Wembley last month.

The winners were presented with their awards at the England v Kazakhstan World Cup Qualifier next to the players’ tunnel.

The Awards were handed out by The FA Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking, Director of Football Services Jonathan Hall, the Chairman of The FA Football Development Committee Ray Berridge, vice chair Sue Hough and McDonald’s Director of Football Sir Geoff Hurst.

The FA’s Charter Standard Awards were established to reward the efforts of clubs, schools and colleges around the country for their hard work in this kitemark scheme.

Charter Standard schools and colleges set high standards of teaching football in the curriculum, out of school hours, entering schools competitions and linking to local Charter Standard clubs, as well as supporting additional schools/colleges to gain the award and running young leadership football courses.

The Charter Standard club scheme highlights best practice that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League.

As a benchmark for quality, it will improve the playing experience for all.
