Teddy Sheringham

Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Highams Park, London
Date of Birth: 2 April 1966
Weight: 12 05
Height: 5' 11''
Club: Tottenham Hotspur
Position: Forward

Pedigree: Fifth-highest scorer in Premiership history, Teddy has achieved nearly everything in the game including scoring in a Champions League Final for Manchester United and starring for England at Euro 96. Played in the last World Cup for his country and has formed a good partnership with Robbie Keane this season. Oh, he has also been voted Footballer of the Year and won the Premiership Golden Boot in his time.

Pros and cons: Teddy never relied on his pace so has been able to retain his form better than most 30-somethings. Good in the dressing-room, he has the experience of football's highs and lows. His age might worry some managers and he is clearly after a certain salary.

Options: If he wants to start preparing for management, first club Millwall could offer him a player/coach role. Continental clubs like Sporting Lisbon are interested while Spurs could give him an extra year.

They say: "When we lose, people say Teddy is too old and when we win he is a good player" Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle.

He says: "I've enjoyed my time at Spurs and my first choice would be to stay. But we won't talk until the summer and that is fine."

Adrian Littlejohn

Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Wolverhampton
Date of Birth: 26 September 1971
Weight: 11 00
Height: 5' 10''
Club: Port Vale
Position: Midfielder

Pedigree: Nippy striker who partnered Brian Deane in the Premiership with Sheffield United and played more than a hundred games for Plymouth.

Pros and cons: Has proved himself wherever he has played, currently on a weekly contract so other clubs may ask if he is past his peak.

Options: Would love to stay at Vale but the club's finances depend on the club's takeover by the Valiant 2001 Group for whom former player Robbie Earle is involved.

What he says: I'd love to stay but it's out of my hands now."
