Nigel Jemson
Club: Shrewsbury Town
Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Preston, England
Date of Birth: 10 August 1969
Weight: 13 00
Height: 5' 11'
Position: Forward

Pedigree: Once scored a League Cup winner at Wembley for Nottingham Forest, he was back in the headlines this season with two goals helping The Shrews knock out Everton in the FA Cup. Given that victory, it seems incredible that Shrewsbury are set to drop out of the Football League this season.

Pros and Cons: Has a great football brain and finishing ability as Everton goals proved, possibly too good for this level - in the lower divisions less gifted team-mates aren't often on his level.

Options: Highly intelligent, he would make a good player-manager. Continues to live in Nottingham, don't rule out a shock move from Forest if they get into the Premiership and need an experienced hand to help their young strikers .

What he says: "Everyone knows the financial situation at clubs like Shrewsbury. It is difficult to plan for the future until the end of the season."

Ian Taylor
Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Birmingham, England
Date of Birth: 4 June 1968
Weight: 12 00
Height: 6' 1''
Club: Aston Villa
Position: Midfielder

Pedigree: Physically strong, can ghost into the penalty area and scores more than his fair share of goals from midfield. He supported Villa as a boy and achieved his boyhood dream of playing for them when he joined from Sheffield Wednesday eight years ago. Helped the club win the 1996 League Cup but his first-team opportunities have been infrequent this season as Graham Taylor tries to build for the future.

Pros and Cons: A model pro, Taylor gives a side discipline and experience. With his legs not getting any younger, his forays into the opposition penalty area are a bit rarer than in the past. Troubled by a calf injury this year.

Options: Ideally, Ian Taylor would like to stay with his boyhood idols but if he's not wanted there won't be a shortage of First Division clubs wanting his experience. In the current climate, his wages would be value-for-money.

He says: "Put it this way, it wouldn't cost a fortune for Villa to keep me on."

Gifton Noel-Williams
Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Islington, London
Date of Birth: 21 January 1980
Weight: 14 00
Height:  6' 4''
Club: Watford
Position: Forward

Pedigree: Dubbed the new John Barnes when he burst onto the scene as a teenager at Watford, injury has hampered his progress but still has the pace and power to be a very dangerous striker.

Pros and Cons: Almost impossible to shove off the ball when in full stride, but his dodgy knee has threatened his career in the past.

Options: The sort of wild card a club like Charlton or West Ham might appreciate as a wild card.

What they say: "I am sure Gifton will have no trouble finding another club," Watford manager Ray Lewington.
