The football crazy fans of Sheffield United have watched their heroes make an extraordinary start to the season, and a 2-0 win over Ipswich makes them this week's Team of the Weekend.

The Blades have always finished in the right half of the table over the last couple of seasons and have gained a reputation as being one of the tougher teams to beat in the division.

But they have not been able to jump over the last hurdle and get promotion to the promised land of the Premiership – possibly until now.

A 2-0 victory over fellow promotion heavyweights Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane has left Neil Warnock’s men four points clear of their closest rivals after seven matches.

A brace by striker Steven Kabba sealed the win to take United’s points tally to 18. The 24-year-old scored after only five minutes with a low strike past Lewis Price in goal for Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys should have equalised ten minutes into the second half after they were awarded a penalty, but Paddy Kenny made a brilliant save diving to his left to deny Darren Currie.

And Kabba ensured that the Yorkshire club took all three points on 90 minutes after running through the Ipswich defence before confidently striking the ball past Price.

Manager Neil Warnock was ecstatic with the win that keeps his team at the top of the table but realises that luck will have a huge part to play if his team will be there come May.

"We deserved to win. The lads are working really hard, but we can still play better.

"It's the best start I've had and probably the best team I've ever had, but it doesn't mean anything. You've still got to be lucky and have a little bit of fortune with injuries."

Other teams who came close to taking this week's award were Wigan Athletic for their second consecutive Premiership win and Swansea who smashed seven goals past Bristol City in League One.
