It's been a good week for me, getting myself back into training and I am pleased things are back to normal for me. I had a run-out in the reserves on Tuesday - and was made captain for the first time in my QPR career.

I also took the warm-up, which made me realise I should do them properly before every game. Age is catching up with my bones and the time has come when I have to warm up and warm down properly.

The only problem is warm-ups are dead boring - and I usually do all I can to avoid them. But there is no hiding place for me now.

It's been a big DIY week at Bignot Mansions. I've been painting the second bedroom - which I've already dubbed the guest room - and been busy putting up curtains.

After my illness I needed some time to rest, so I didn't take my ladies team for training on Wednesday night. My coaching staff do a good job and I have no worries about Liverpool at the weekend.

They are one of the four teams in relegation trouble, so it's one team I would like to think we can take three points off. I am looking at runner-up as a decent finish for the club.

It will mean we are more financially secure for next season. The prize money is nowhere near enough to secure us completely, but it will go some way to sorting us out for the next year.

Speaking of finances ... at this time of year everybody seems to go transfer and contract crazy, but it's quiet at QPR. There are a lot of players who will be out of contract at the club this summer, but I think everybody is waiting until our Championship status is confirmed for next season.

Clubs sort out contracts in different ways. At QPR we are unique because we are all aware of the financial state of the club. And it's easier for both parties to wait until we know we are going to be playing Championship football next season.

When that happens - and I think we need four more wins to do it - I am sure there will be a long queue outside the chairman's office!

QPR play Coventry at Highfield Road on Saturday at 3pm, and Birmingham Ladies play Liverpool at Poulton Victoria Football Club in Wallasey, Wirral on Sunday at 2pm.
