The aftermath from Leeds' relegation from the Premier League dominates the back pages, with Alan Smith admitting he is resigned to leaving the club.

Smith insists his hopes of playing for England rest on moving to a Premiership club - but added he was sad about leaving.

The 23-year-old told the Sun: "I have said all along to anybody who cared to ask that if we had stayed up, they would have to cut off my legs and throw me out if they wanted to get rid of me.

"The Premiership is where everybody with ambition wants - and needs - to play. I'm no different. Unfortunately Nationwide football isn't for me. If I was coming to the end of my career and was settled down with a family, then maybe things would be different.

"But I am a single lad, ambitious and, hopefully, have a long career ahead of me."

Leeds directors will meet today, according to the Telegraph, to discuss the sale of their top players.

Direcor Melvin Helme told the paper: "The players who have got international ambitions obviously want to play in the top flight and we could not stand in their way.

"We were hoping we would not have to talk about relegation but now we have to have a close look at what is going to happen. From a financial point of view, you can't afford to pay Premiership wages in the First Division."

Managing director David Richmond admitted the club are in "a mess" both on and off the pitch, and said some players would be hard to sell on account of their high wages.

He told the Daily Mail: "Our wage bill is astronomical and I can promise there will be a complete rebuilding in the summer.

"The vast majority of our players are not wanted by other clubs, because their wages are absolutely totally and utterly beyond belief."

Paul Scholes admits Manchester United's up-and-down form this season means he faces The FA Cup Final against Millwall with great trepidation.

Scholes believes their last remaining Premiership games before the Cup Final will be crucial if they are to beat rank underdogs Millwall.

He told the Express and the Sun: "We've not played great for a full 90 minutes all season. We don't want to be going into the Cup Final not having won for three or four games.

"We can't just turn it on when we get to Cardiff. We need to get there with a couple of wins under our belts, and playing well. If we are not then the Final could be a struggle."

Arsenal won the FA Women's Cup, with Julie Fleeting scoring a hat-trick - despite playing with a shin injury picked up while appearing for her native Scotland just 24 hours previously.

She told the Sun: "I played for 90 minutes against Germany and it was straight to the airport to fly here. But I always thought the adrenalin would take me through the game."

Meanwhile Arsenal's 19-year-old rising star David Bentley is set to go out on loan next season in order to gain more first-team experience.

Manager Arsene Wenger told the Daily Express: "I would like to loan him out to give him some experience.

"He is a great talent but needs to play regular games now. I told him a month ago that he would go out on loan."

Blackburn Rovers striker Jon Stead has been told by his team-mate Andy Cole that life in the Premiership will not always be so easy.

The former Huddersfield forward has scored six goals in 11 games for Rovers, but Cole told the Mirror: "You get a reputation and defenders close down your space."

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he will take it "very hard" if he is not picked to play in Chelsea's Champion's League semi-final second leg against Monaco.

Chelsea host Monaco at Stamford Bridge with a 3-1 deficit to overcome if they are to make it to the Final.

And Hasselbaink told the Telegraph: "If I do not play on Wednesday, it will be very hard on me. The most important thing is we need to score goals, and I have shown this season that is what I do best.

"I believe this game could be my match of the season and it would be an enormous blow not to be given the chance of helping Chelsea reach the Champions League Final."
