Friday, 20 June 2003.
Last year it was Korea/Japan 2002, four year previous it was France '98, and today it's Confederations Cup 2003, France v Japan.
Today is day 20 of the Close Season...
Throughout the month of June players in England are given a break away from the game and only international, small-side, armed forces and scout matches are permitted.
Without any football for a whole month, TheFA.com is here to help you through every day in June with our guide, Close Season Encounters, pointing you in the direction of your daily dose of the Beautiful Game...
World Cup hosts get-together
The hosts of the two previous World Cups go head to head in their second game of Group A in St Etienne and both will be looking to turn their first match victories into a run which would see the winner take top spot in the table. That's at 9pm (8pm BST).
In the other game today, New Zealand, who lost 3-0 to Japan in the opening game on Wednesday, play Colombia who were unlucky to lose by a single Thierry Henry penalty later that evening. They kick off at 7pm local time, just down the road from St Etienne in Lyon.
