Wayne Rooney is ready to be unleashed on Turkish champions Fenerbahce in the Champions League tomorrow, report The Sun.

Rooney has sat and watched Manchester United’s start to the season while waiting for his foot to heal properly.

Now he is ready and the prospect of teaming up with Ruud van Nistelrooy is something he can hardly wait for.

"When you are sitting there and a lot of the England players are talking about the Champions League, you want to be part of that," said Rooney.

Sir Bobby Robson has revealed that he urged The FA to sack him and appoint Brian Clough as England manager in the late Eighties.

When Robson was going through a difficult spell after a disastrous European Championship in 1988, he offered to step aside for the ‘People’s Choice’.

Robson said: "I remember going to Sir Bert Millichip, who was an excellent FA chairman, and I said to him, ‘I’m having a rough time and everybody wants Brian Clough, so forget about me. Let’s think about the country – give the job to Brian’.

"He had good judgement and was a great motivator. He definitely would have been a great England manager." (Daily Express)

Kezman said: "All the things that happened in my country and in Holland help you to be strong. I’m happy I grew up in Serbia because I’m prepared for every situation." (The Sun)
