Sir Bobby Robson
has received a sensational SOS call from crisis-torn Real Madrid, according to The Sun.

The Spanish giants have reportedly sounded out the 71-year-old former England boss over a swan-song stint at the Bernabeu.

President Florentino Perez wants a respected coach to restore order after Jose Camacho quit this week following a player revolt against him.

Robson was sacked by Newcastle last month yet is one of the most experienced and respected coaches in Europe after a seven-year spell on the continent at PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona.

The Daily Star claims Chelsea are setting up a £10m move for the new Pele – Brazilian starlet Robinho.

The 20-year-old striker is the top-rated youngster in South America, on a par with England’s own Wayne Rooney.

Barcelona and Inter Milan are among the big European clubs tracking his progress at Santos.

Chelsea reportedly had a £7m bid for Robinho rejected before the transfer deadline at the end of August and are now tipped to make a fresh offer.

The Sun and the Daily Express both suggest Manchester United want Carlo Cudicini as the answer to their goalkeeping problems.

It is claimed Sir Alex Ferguson has lost faith in American Tim Howard - and will try to prise Cudicini from Chelsea with a £2.5m bid in January.

Cudicini, 31, is set to return to training next week after missing the last month with an elbow injury.

But he has already been told that he is no longer the No.1 at Stamford Bridge after the £7m summer signing of Petr Cech.

Robbie Savage’s dream of playing for Wales against England in the World Cup qualifier at Old Trafford on 09 October receded still further last night.

FIFA have ignored all pleas for an appeal and ratified the Birmingham midfielder’s red card for retaliation against Michael Hughes in the recent 2-2 draw with Northern Ireland.

Savage’s lawyer Mel Goldberg said: "We have received word from FIFA that their disciplinary committee has confirmed the red card, confirmed a one-match ban, and effectively confirmed that the referee’s decision is final and there is no right of appeal." (Daily Express)

Gary Megson is two games away from the sack after sparking a civil war in the West Brom dressing room, according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper claims Megson has pitted the players who won promotion for the club last season against his summer signings.

A source close to the dressing room is quoted as saying: "Megson has totally split the dressing room.

"The players who were there last year feel angry that he has treated them so badly."
