The Gunners boss is poised to open talks with AC Milan for the midfield ace.

Despite Wenger previously stating he is not planning any summer buys, it ihas now emerged he is hoping to add Kaka to his title-winning squad.

A bid of around £15million could tempt the Italian champions to part with the 22-year-old playmaker they signed from Sao Paulo last September.

Kaka netted four times for Milan in the Champions League. He also has four in ten games for Brazil.

In another Sun exclusive, former Brazil star Zico says Wayne Rooney can be a world superstar like Pele.

Commenting on England’s teenage striker, Zico said: "He has the potential to be a legend.

"He is a young player who excites me. Anyone who has watched him play will know that he has a great future in football."

Zico added: "Pele had all the ability in the world. But one of his great qualities was that he could take anything and any situation in his stride.

"From what little I have seen of Wayne, he can do that too. He can be a big star in the Euro 2004 finals."

Real Madrid will again test Arsenal’s financial resolve this summer with a £30million bid for Patrick Vieira, according to the Daily Star.

Real’s new coach Jose Antonio Camacho has made Vieira his top target.

The Spanish giants made a £22million offer for the Gunners skipper two years ago but they would in all liklihood have to offer more this time in order to lure Vieira away from Highbury.

Claudio Ranieri reportedly believes that Chelsea are trying to force him to quit to save them £6million in compensation. (All papers)

Ranieri met with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in Milan yesterday expecting to be sacked.

But he was stunned to hear Abramovich talk about plans for next season.

Ranieri has three years remaining on his £2million-a-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

That will have to be paid in full should Chelsea appoint Porto coach Jose Mourhino as their new boss.
