Brazilian World Cup winner Rivaldo is very close to agreeing a sensational move to Bolton Wanderers after talks with manager Sam Alardyce.
Rivaldo, 32, is available on a free transfer as he is a free agent after leaving Brazilian side Cruzeiro in February.
Not only was the former World and European footballer of the year a World Cup winner in 2002, but has won league titles in Brazil, Spain and Italy and the Champions League in 2003 with AC Milan. (all papers)

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is the topic of contract and transfer speculation.
It is reported the Chelsea have refused the outstanding England midfielder an extension to his current contract which expires in two years. (The Express)
Internazionale are preparing a bid for Lampard after general manager Gabriele Oriali and assistant sporting director Marco Branca watched him in their Champions League tie in Monaco and reported back to club president Massimo Moratti that "he was the only player on the pitch worth buying." Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson still feels that the UEFA Cup is within their grasp after they played out a scoreless draw against Marseille last night at St James' Park.
"I am very optimistic," said Robson. "We didn't give away a goal and that is a real bonus."
Newcastle must now score in the return leg and the fans will all be looking to talismanic striker Alan Shearer for their goals.

Shearer said: "We fancy ourselves to score a goal over there so we are still very much in this tie."
Gary Mabbutt believes that Tottenham will stop Arsenal's dream of going the whole season undefeated by becoming the first team to beat them when the travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday.
If Chelsea were to draw or lose when they face Newcastle on Sunday then a win would mean that Arsenal would be crowned Champions at their fiercest rival's ground.

Teddy Sheringham could be set for a final year in the Premiership through newly promoted Norwich City.
The striker is currently playing for Portsmouth but his contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Norwich will be in the market for an experienced strike partner for Darren Huckerby as they are set to lose Iwan Roberts who will quit the club in the summer.
Sheringham said: "There are options open and I want to look at them all. I want to keep playing at this level."
