The draw for last season's FA Cup Fifth Round could hardly have thrown up a more mouth-watering tie than Manchester United v Arsenal.

The top two teams in the country, with no fewer than 18 Cup Final victories between them, clashed at Old Trafford and 67,209 were there to see a typically frenetic encounter.

United might have known it wasn't to be their day when Ryan Giggs shot over a gaping goal in one of the misses of the season. Moments later, the Gunners took the lead when the Brazilian Edu curled in a 35th minute free kick which took slight deflections off Beckham and Ferdinand before beating the wrong-footed Barthez.

The Londoners then took control of the match and, seven minutes into the second period, French striker Sylvain Wiltord was in the right place to side-foot the ball low and hard past a stranded Barthez and clinch the tie.

Arsenal finished the season by lifting The FA Cup.
