After Liverpool's dramatic triumph against AC Milan last year, which allowed them to keep the trophy because of their five wins, Arsenal go in search of their first ever Champions League trophy looking to continue the English top flight’s dominance.

But it will be far from an easy ride for the Gunners who come up against a Barcelona side many deem as the best club side in world football.

In fact, it is the only piece of silverware they have not won in Europe.

They won the Fairs Cup in 1969/70 - their first European honour - and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1993/4.

Both sides go into the final in Paris this evening unbeaten in 12 matches in the Champions League this season - winning eight and drawing four games each and it is only the third time since the competition began in 1992 that two teams have remained unbeaten on their way to the final.

Arsenal will be able to welcome back Three Lions stars Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole who will welcome a win tonight as the perfect build up to the World Cup in Germany this summer.

Campbell looks set to partner Kolo Toure in central defence as they look to snuff out a Barcelona attack of Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Frenchman Ludovic Giuly.

Although if current form in the competition is to go by, Arsenal should have no fear as they hold the Champions League record for clean sheets, having not conceded a Champions League goal since 27 September 2005 - a run of ten consecutive clean sheets spanning 919 minutes.

Cole is back fit and set to play at left back having played the last three games for the north London side. Cole has been plagued with injuries this season but has finally returned to full fitness which is good news for both Arsenal and England.

Both teams are renowned for their attacking prowess so it should be a classic encounter.

If The FA Cup Final and last year's Champions League final is anything to go by, it is sure be a game to remember.

And with the array of internationals on show, it will whet the appetite for this summer's showcase - the World Cup in Germany.
