Everton striker James Vaughan received his first call-up to the Under-21s this week and will be heading to Holland as part of their UEFA Championship squad.

But Vaughan, who has scored five goals in just 17 games for the Toffees and became the youngest ever Premiership scorer when he notched on his debut, is no stranger to international football.

Having represented the Three Lions at U17s level, he stepped up to the U19s after a long-term injury and has scored three times in three games, including the winner against Switzerland in November (click the links above to watch).

"It's always a great honour to play for your country and to have the chances I've had to do it this season is fantastic," Vaughan told TheFA.com earlier this season.

"I've played pretty well and I've scored a few goals which I'm pleased with. It's the best feeling ever when you score a goal."

Vaughan added: "When I was really, really young my favourite player was John Barnes all the time. Then when I was a little older and I watched the game a bit more Ian Wright was by far my favourite player. He was the player when I was a kid that I tried to be like.

"Everything about him, the way he played and the way he was on the pitch. You need that confidence when you play."
