England’s penalty goalscorer, Fara Williams, was philosophical after England’s 2-1 defeat to Denmark, and already thinking ahead to Saturday’s titanic tussle with Sweden.

Having given England the advantage with a calmly struck penalty, Fara saw England’s lead overturned by two Denmark goals in the last ten minutes.

But overall she felt the side had a lot to be positive about.

"I think it was a good effort - we gave a good account of ourselves," she said. "We played better than we did on Sunday when we got the result.

"We’re disappointed with the loss, but now we’ve got to look forward to Saturday’s game.

"It’s a must win game so we’ll go back now, prepare for that game and we’ll all be focussed and ready."

Team-mate Eniola Aluko meanwhile reflected on a somewhat bizarre day – there aren’t too many people who’ve done an A-Level and played an England international on the same day!

"It was kind of a weird day," she said. "I had to get my academic head on to get ready for my A-Level.

"Surprisingly it went well - most of the things I revised came up. Then I had to get ready for the game.

"I don’t think we deserved to lose, not at all. Going into Saturday’s game we’ve got to win it and we’re confident that if we play the way we played today we’ll succeed."
