It has been a busy couple of weeks for me recently with two internationals and The FA Women's Cup Final. After England’s 2-1 victory over the ‘Auld Enemy’, Scotland, at the Tranmere Rovers, myself and the rest of the Everton team headed to West Ham FC on Bank Holiday Monday hoping to take home some silverware from the Cup Final.

It was always going to be a tough game against Charlton Athletic who were looking to make it third time lucky having lost in the last two FA Women’s Cup Finals, and on the day it was only the one goal that separated the teams.

We came out firing in the early stages but Charlton managed to make the most of their chances. It was a great day out for the fans that made the trip down to London, and hopefully we will be a strong contender for next year’s final.

England’s penultimate international before Women's Euro 2005 took place at Barnsley FC last Friday against Norway and we secured a fantastic 1-0 victory against a side who are 11 places higher than us in the FIFA World Rankings.

I almost got on the score sheet in the second half with a 20-yard strike but the Norwegian goalie did well to keep it out. Confidence in the camp is high at the moment and everyone is really looking forward to the Championship.

Although the domestic season has finished now with Arsenal having been crowned Champions, the Everton squad are still training just as hard as we want to be sure we’re all ready for next season. This has been an added bonus for me ahead of the summer, as I need to do all I can to remain fit.

Everyone involved in the England set up has been working hard to prove themselves as our National Coach, Hope Powell, is preparing to name the 20 player squad ahead of the final build up match on 26 May against the Czech Republic at Walsall FC’s Bescot Stadium.

If we can get another good result behind us on 26 May then the England team will be heading into Women's Euro 2005 on a high, in the meantime I have to keep training hard and hope that I make the final squad.

England’s opening game against Finland on 05 June at the City of Manchester Stadium will be a great occasion and I hope that football fans will make the short trip to watch it.

England Women’s next international takes place on 26 May 2005 at Walsall FC’s Bescot Stadium (kick off – 7.45pm). Tickets for the match are on sale now from the Walsall ticket office - 0870 442 0111
