England come into the Euros on the back of a ten match unbeaten run - a run that just happens to coincide with the ten caps won by a certain Three Lions star.

Yet to play in a losing England team, right-back Alex Scott is taking over the mantle of Steven Gerrard, who played his first 21 matches for the England men's team without defeat after his debut in May 2000.

But of course, Alex knows she is one of many factors in that unprecedented run.

"It’s a team game and I know all the other girls have put in as much effort as I have," she says to the suggestion she is the team’s lucky charm.

"It feels good to know we haven’t lost a game I’ve participated in yet - hopefully we’ll keep going that way."

So what’s been the highlight so far?

"I’d think I’d say the Italy game because that was my first major start. I remember looking up at the scoreboard and seeing the 4-1, it was just an amazing feeling.

"And we beat Norway who are ranked higher than us. We’re beating teams ranked higher than us and setting records, it’s just all such a good feeling."

With only ten caps to her name, and at only 20 years of age, Alex could be forgiven for feeling a little nervy, but she insists it won’t be a factor as she heads out to face Finland at the City of Manchester Stadium.

"I don’t really get nervous; more excited," she confirms. "I can’t wait for the first whistle to blow and then you’re in it really.

"Hopefully it’ll be a great atmosphere and all the fans will be cheering us. I know all the girls will be buzzing off the crowd and the excitement - it’s good that it’ll be a record crowd.

"We all can’t wait for the first game to start – it’s what we’ve been training for and we’re just glad it’s here now and we can show what we can do."
