Staging the championships will provide a great opportunity to raise awareness and increase participation in girls and women's sport, and there are opportunities to get involved in the game either as a player, coach, referee, official, administrator or spectator.

In East Lancashire, the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is keen to attract visitors from across the UK and overseas, particularly with local clubs Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers playing host to group games.

Deepdale will also host one of the two semi-finals, and Ewood Park, the Final. The England team will be based in the East Lancashire area, with goalkeeper Rachel Brown - born in Burnley and formerly of Accrington Ladies and Burnley Ladies - in contention for a spot in the 20 player squad.

During the build up to the championships there will be a host of activities for potential participants of all ages and abilities and at 6pm on Wednesday February 9 at Blakeys, King Georges Hall, Blackburn there will be an open evening for anyone interested in playing their part in the Championship in June.
