Young, gifted and Czech - Tomáš Rosický scores against Italy.
Czech Republic
For the second time in a row, the Czech Republic have been placed in the 'Group of Death' but this time, with an extravagantly gifted crop of players, Karel Brückner will be thinking well beyond just getting into the last eight.
Karel Brückner’s Czech Republic – a mix of experienced campaigners and talented youngsters - side topped their qualifying group ahead of Group D rivals Holland, finishing unbeaten from the eight games.
Jan Koller was the hero in Rotterdam after his equaliser earned a draw away to the Dutch after which all eyes turned to the return game in Prague. Karel Poborsky turned on the style to pull the strings and score a goal in the Czechs’ stunning 3-1 win.
As at Euro 2000, the Czechs have once again been drawn in the ‘Group of Death’; this time though, the Czechs will be expected to get through.
