Bulgaria's Dimitar Berbatov in action against Greece in February 2004.
Bulgaria
The Group C outsiders are no strangers to international competition, having qualified for the European Championship Finals as recently as in 1996.
Group 8 saw one of the tightest battles for qualification. The Bulgarians, despite defeat in their last match, came through on top.
In truth that final match did not matter. Plamen Markov’s side got off to a flying start and had already qualified by the time they travelled to Zagreb to play Croatia.
Bulgaria, in their first Championship Finals since France ’98, have been dealt a difficult hand and a quarter-final spot would be a wonderful achievement for Markov’s side.
