The pair have known each other since they were young but Rehhagel says Merk will not favour his side.

"I am glad Markus is refereeing the final as he's a respected official, but he's strict with me," said Rehhagel.

"He even sent me off into the stands on one occasion, so I'm sure there will not be any problem."
