England are through to the final of the Women's U17 International Tournament here in County Cork, having beaten the hosts, the Republic of Ireland, 2-1.

Fulham midfielder Natasha Dowie gave Jane Ebbage's side the lead after 26 minutes of the first half and England scored their crucial, match-winning second goal just eight minutes later when Leeds United's Jessica Clarke broke clear of the home side's defence.

The Republic of Ireland did get a goal back soon after the break but, though they put the England defence under plenty of pressure, the Irish couldn't find an equaliser.

As winners of Group A, England now play the winners of Group B, the United States, in the tournament final to be played at Curracloe United FC.
