Young Lions goalless with Serbia in final Euro group game

England Women's U19s brought their European Championship campaign to a close with a 0-0 draw against Serbia in their final Group B game in Turkey on Sunday evening.

Defeats in the opening two matches to Sweden and Spain meant that Mo Marley's side could not progress to the semi-finals, even if they managed victory over the Serbians, but they ended with a point to ensure they took third spot in the table.

England maybe edged the game at the Titanic Stadium in Antalya on chances. Keira Ramshaw had a couple of first half openings, one was blocked before she forced a save from the Serbian keeper Katarina Vojinović with another just after the half-hour.

Vojinović was the busier of the two stoppers and was called into action twice early in the second half, Beth Mead was one of the England players denied.

However, England captain Mary Earps made a trio of important stops late on from both Nevena and Jovana Damnjanovi, before one in injury time from Aleksandra Savanović. Substitute Nikita Parris had a sight of goal and a chance to snatch the victory for England, but failed to hit the target.

England travel home, leaving Spain, Sweden, Denmark and Portugal to battle it out in the last four for the European Championship crown.
