Mo Marley says England Women's U19s can respond to opening Euro Finals defeat
Mo Marley believes her England Women’s U19 team are ready to bounce back against Spain this evening.
The Young Lionesses lost their Euro Finals opener to Sweden on Monday, but the Head Coach is confident her players have put that result out of their minds and says they are now fully focussed on the encounter with the Spanish, who beat Serbia 3-0 in their opening game.
“Obviously we are disappointed with the result against Sweden,” began Marley, “especially because of the amount of chances we created in the first half. We could have put the game to bed.
“We are a bit disappointed with our response in the second half as well, but the girls have been honest about their performance and now they want to go out against Spain and put it right.
“We knew that we would face three very tough games in the group stage and it will be interesting to see how the girls respond to Monday’s result.
“We are on the back foot a little bit and we have to beat Spain but that’s tournament football and in that respect nothing has changed for us – we go out looking to win every game – but it will be a good test of the character in this particular group.”
