England - Sigsworth 9' Parris 76'

A solid start

Tuesday, 22 November, 2011

Goals from Nikita Parris and Jess Sigsworth enough to beat France.

A goal apiece from Nikita Parris and Jess Sigsworth got England Women's U19s' season off to a solid start against France.

After receiving a bye to the second, and final, round of qualifiers for this season's UEFA Women's European U19 Championship, Mo Marley has taken her side to Holland for two testing internationals, against the French and the host nation.

And Sigsworth ensured their European preparations began with a bang, scoring the opening goal after just nine minutes.

Amid a raft of second-half substitutions, which allowed Marley an opportunity to give game-time to as many players as possible, they had to wait until 14 minutes before the end to secure the victory, with Everton forward Parris doing the damage.

Buoyed by this victory, England will now take on Holland on Thursday.
