England Women's U17s draw 0-0 with Northern Ireland in opening Euro qualifier
England Women’s U17s drew their opening Euro 2013 qualifier 0-0 with Northern Ireland.
Both sides had plenty of chances in the first half, but both goalkeepers were equal to the few shots that were on target and the teams went in goalless at the break.
England’s Natasha Flint and Katie Zelem looked the most likely to break the deadlock, no more so than when the latter crashed the ball off the woodwork just before the hour mark.
Zelem continued to probe and tried her luck on a number of occasions but to no avail.
Lois Fidler’s young side now face Israel on Wednesday before meeting Italy on Saturday. The top placed nation in the group will progress to the final qualifying stage next spring.
