England reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, but missed out on top spot in the table as South Korea proved too strong in the final group game in Auckland.
Lois Fidler's team conceded their first goal of the competition after just eight minutes, with Ji So Yun wriggling into space at the edge of the box and angling a right-foot shot just inside the far post after eight minutes play.
Eight minutes later and it was 2-0 as Koh Kyung Yeon sneaked in ahead of her marker to head powerfully home from a tantalising Lee Hyung Young corner.
A two-goal victory was enough to see Korea top the table on goals scored over England, but they made sure of pole position with a third goal midway through the second period.
England now face Japan on Sunday in Hamilton, while South Korea take on USA.
