Despite winning two out of their three games in the European Championship qualification campaign, England U17s must wait to see if they have reached the next phase.
After wins over Greece and Estonia confidence was high going into the final group game against Norway, but after losing out narrowly in their final game in Estonia they face a wait to see if they will earn one of the best runners-up places in the next stage.
The group stage began with England in confident form as they overcame Greece by four goals, with Naomi Cole, Danielle Carter, Lauren Bruton and Paige Eli on the scoresheet.
The hosts were up next and England were again the victors as Bruton and Carter added to their tallies and Bethanie Gardener completed the scoring.
The run of wins ended as Norway put their name in the hat for the Second Round Qualifying next year, and having reached the semi-finals in last year's inaugural tournament England will be eager to continue in the competition.
Of the three runners-up so far known England rank first, but with seven groups yet to be played they may not know their fate until next month. Greece enjoyed the consolation of third place after a 1-1 draw with Estonia.
