Despite losing to Iceland on Thursday evening, Hope Powell believes there are plenty of positives to take from their penultimate match before Euro 2009.

England face Denmark on Wednesday at Swindon Town where it is believed that a number of the players not involved against Iceland will play their part.

But Powell was pleased that a number of young players were able to get some experience under their belts.

"It was a disappointing result, first and foremost, but I think it has answered a few questions," Powell admitted.

"There were a few new caps tonight and the game was about getting the opportunity to look at a few players ahead of the final squad selection.

"So all in all, with some of the young kids who started and came on from the bench they did ok. While the result wasn't what we wanted, there were some questions answered and doubts that I had in my mind, so I'm quite positive."

Powell also gave credit to the opponents before looking ahead to the Danish test at the County Ground on Wednesday night.

"Iceland played well, we knew they were progressing and they showed that with some good results in qualifying for Euro 2009. For them that will be encouraging and for us we now need to go back and do some more preparation for the Denmark game.

"We'll play other players again and try and give everyone the opportunity, we'll have to show some character and we'll see how we perform in that game. We'll try and bounce back from this game and see how we go from there."
