England and Team GB star Steph Houghton looks back on 2012
2012 has been the biggest ever year for women’s football in this country and Steph Houghton has been right at the heart of it.
From her involvement in Arsenal’s second consecutive League and League Cup double, not to mention their historic defeat of Turbine Potsdam in the Champions League, to her elevation in the England team via a fairytale three games at the London Olympics, the Durham girl has epitomised all that has been good about the last 12 months.
FATV caught up with Houghton at the recent FA Women’s Awards where she discussed The FA WSL, England qualifying for Euro 2013 and the impact of London 2012.
She said: “I think [2012 has] been brilliant for us as players, but women’s football in general.
“Let’s hope we have another good one next year.”
