Fast approaching 100 caps, Casey Stoney has been a mainstay in the England team for a number of years, and she was the only player to appear in each of her country's 14 matches in this calendar year.

She is also England's vice captain and has worn the armband regularly over the past 12 months, in the absense of Faye White, including against eventual World Champions Japan in the World Cup.

Stoney turned out at centre-back in all 14 matches, beginning back in March in the Cyprus Cup where she helped keep clean sheets against Italy and South Korea.

A clean sheet was also achieved from England's friendly against Sweden, just six months after Stoney et al beat USA 2-1 at Brisbane Road.  After these two deserved warm-up victories it was off to Germany for the World Cup.

Stoney played every minute of England's World Cup campaign and she slammed home her penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out defeat to France.

Stoney has since captained her country in all four of their Euro 2013 qualifiers so far and will head in to 2012 with a 100th cap firmly in her sights.
