Danny Welbeck has thrown his weight behind the England Women’s Euro 2013 qualifying campaign.
Hope Powell’s side take on Holland at Salford City Stadium on Sunday 17 June, needing a win to keep alive their hopes of automatic qualification. The Dutch currently top the group with England in second place, five points behind but with a game in hand.
Welbeck, who scored the winner against Sweden on Friday, met fellow England striker Ellen White at Wembley ahead of the recent friendly with Belgium and he wished her luck for the crucial clash, which is taking place on his doorstep.
“It’s great having an England team playing in Manchester, especially with it being such a big game,” he said.
“I know we have to win so hopefully the fans will come out and support the team. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the result.
“Hopefully Ellen and the girls can beat Holland and give themselves a great chance of making it to their own Euro Finals next year.”
