Hope Powell receives CBE at Buckingham Palace.

England Women’s Head Coach Hope Powell was yesterday presented with her CBE by the Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace.

Powell was awarded the CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June for her services to women’s football, and she revealed her delight at the tribute after the ceremony.

“It is a very proud day, not just for me, but for the whole of the women’s game,” she said.

“Princess Anne was really nice and we spoke a bit about football, but it was mainly just general chit-chat.

“It was a lovely day.”

The next big outing for the Head Coach comes on Monday when she will travel to Frankfurt for the FIFA Women's World Cup draw. The draw will be conducted by former Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and women’s football ambassador Adriana Karembeu.
